Scandinavian fashion and lifestyle brand has confirmed that founder Johan Lindeberg is returning to his namesake label as a creative consultant, eight years after leaving.
Starting in January, Lindeberg will re-join as a creative consultant based in New York, while corresponding with the company’s headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden.
Lindeberg founded the fashion line in 1996 and was creative director of his namesake label until 2007, where he left to take on a creative director role at William Rast, the clothing brand co-founded by Justin Timberlake. In 2010, Lindeberg launch premium denim New York brand BLK DNM, which he left this past May.
The move to bring back Lindeberg follows a strong period of growth, which has seen the Swedish label double its turnover for the last three years, according to the brand’s co-owner Stefan Engström.
"We've seen strong growth for a while now, doubling our turnover for the last three years. Our 20th anniversary is coming up, and with this stable foundation we're happy to have Johan back to spearhead the brand and contribute to the next step of our growth,” added Engström. “The return of J.Lindeberg's founder feels like a natural way to close the circle in our journey to become the leading lifestyle brand in Stockholm.”
